Foods And Containers You Should Not Use With Microwaves
While using a microwave can seem straightforward enough, knowing which foods and containers are not compatible with your microwave can save you some mess to clean or a broken microwave. Here are a few of those.
If you did not know already, let us reiterate that metal containers are a complete no-no when it comes to microwaves. Some say aluminium can be used but it is best if you keep aluminium out of the microwave as well. Plastic and glass containers can be used as long as they are microwave safe. If the food has its own packaging, read the instructions carefully before thrusting it inside the microwave.
The list of foods that cannot be used with a microwave is quite long but let us mention a few of the top contenders. Eggs (boiled or raw) should never be placed inside a microwave unless you want a mess. Grapes, hot peppers and marshmallows should be avoided as well. As a general rule of thumb, vegetables like potatoes, hotdogs or anything else that has a skin should be poked for a few holes before turning the microwave on.
There are of course other do’s and don’ts when it comes to using a microwave properly. Just research those before you start heating up your new microwave oven or visit Oven Shopper for more information on this topic.
